What is the going rate for nannies who bring their own children?

Posted on Aug 20, 2009

The nannies set their own rate in the market place and top nannies are making $16-$20 an hour. If a nanny was making $18 for instance without a child, she would probably be asking for $15 an hour minimum with a child. However, if a nanny can bring her child to work with her it saves her a lot in childcare costs.

You should figure out what you can afford taking into account payroll taxes. When you have decided what you can pay, extend an offer to her. Sometimes people will take less money if you offer them very good perks, ie. breakfast and lunch for her and her child, paid time off, etc.

I hope this helps.
